Attention is in the past. We live well in the time of the shortest attention span ever. There is no going back. It's all good though. We just need an answer.
The answer is not resisting the present, pointing out the cons of "short form" content and communication. The answer is neither just broadcasting "short form" content and communication for the shake of being "short". You can shorten a paragraph by trimming all of its nouns and render it useless. You can hang up a call in the middle of a sentence and its point is lost.
There is laconicism though; a wonderful lossy compression algorithm. Leave out everything not contributing to the point to be made. Keep only what is necessary to have the same impact. Sweat the details down to the very last word, which if you trim, the whole point is lost. That's where you stop.
The fact is no one ever said "I wish I could get the same result, in more time". The ball changed court and the opposite court has no attention to waste.
Better be laconic.
